Most probably, the recession that is making news globally is a sorry epitaph to capitalism as we, at least, know it.

That in itself marks the end of history. The end of a system once canonised as the epitome of human civilisation and advancement that would confer on the human race material gains hitherto never imagined or that no other economic ideology could accomplish. Its foundering is proof that this was all a myth.

What the Western world is faced with is the inefficacy of the free market concept that could not keep in check its excesses and which strangely now needs public funds to bail it out.
