EDITORIAL ON STRIKER BILL HAD RIGHT TITLE BUT THE WRONG ANALYSIS.(MAIN)

Your June 18 editorial "Keep the labor playing field level" had the correct title but the incorrect analysis and conclusion concerning passage of federal legislation to prohibit employers from hiring permanent replacements for workers who are forced to strike for economic reasons.

The editorial asserts that the number of companies who "have abused their striker replacement prerogatives ... is far too small," that enactment of the law "would come at a high cost to the nation's economy," that employers "would be helpless to stand up to ... workers' economic demands," and the law "could force companies to close and toss workers out into the streets," and assume …
