WA:Barnett and Carles cleared of corruption

The West Australian corruption watchdog has cleared Premier COLIN BARNETT and independent
MP ADELE CARLES of any wrongdoing .. over the so-called `staff-for-votes' scandal.

Ms CARLES and the premier met in his parliamentary office in october .. to discuss
the issue of additional staff for the independent.

The MP .. who resigned from the Greens earlier this year .. left the meeting believing
she'd come to an agreement with Mr BARNETT to gain an extra staff member .. if she supported
the government.

But Mr BARNETT says Ms CARLES volunteered her support .. and any decision to grant
additional staff wouldn't be conditional.

The Corruption and Crime Commission said legal advice indicates the alleged arrangement
wouldn't have been in breach of the Criminal Code.
